Today on The Edgy Veg we’re going on a trip! I have teamed up with Almond Breeze, who has sponsored this video, and they are sending me on a trip to Sacramento to see where their almond beverage comes from! I am also going to show you how to make one of my favourite vegan brunch desserts- an Ice Cream Chocolate Almond Float!

I am so excited to show you all the cool stuff I learned about almond farming and show you what I ate while I was there. Stay tuned to the end of the video where I show you how to use almond beverage to make one of my go-to brunch desserts!
Blue Diamond Growers is a cooperative that’s been around for over one hundred years. That’s a long time! So you can trust that they know the almond business. Blue Diamond Growers was founded in 1910 in Sacramento, California and are the largest almond processor in the world. The 3,000+ almond growers range from first-to-fourth-generation almond-growing families. When the California almond orchards bloom, more than a million colonies of honey bees are placed in the orchards to pollinate the crop. Since I live in the city, it’s easy to forget how much work goes into growing the food that we buy! I loved seeing where almonds come from, and definitely have a greater appreciation for farmers.

When I was growing up in Germany, my favourite thing to order at a cafe with my mom was this drink called Ice Cream Chocolate. It’s pretty much ice cold chocolate milk with a scoop of ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. It’s one of my favorite things to serve up at brunch and stupid easy to make. Make sure to check out Friday’s video where I show you how to cook with Almond Breeze! Thanks for watching!

  1. What a fab trip!! I’ve never tried almond milk before but will give it try for sure, especially if they have it in chocolate 😀

  2. Cool video and that food looked amazing! What a great trip! Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to buy Blue Diamond more often than Silk. We go through tons of almond milk. I bake with it all the time.

  3. I love and respect Candice lots and all she is doing to promote veganism and I don’t like to spread negativity at all but it is worth considering that a Blue Diamond is not at all organic and the “natural” process of growing almonds that she is so excited about is unfortunately causing some real harm to both the bees and us. I really wish Blue Diamond would go organic. Surely there are some lovely things about their company but those millions of bees should not be being exposed to those chemicals. Bees are dying in mass quantities every day and they are hugely crucial to our food supply as well as our survival. Pesticides are linked to harming them and also cause lots of health issues to humans. I just want everyone to be aware of and consider this when making purchases. Organic is really important to our future. Much love to everyone.

  4. WOW!! THats so neat! I had no idea almonds grew on trees….and with such gorgeous flowers.
